Tourism in Albacete
Albacete is, since centuries ago, the main Spanish model of an industry as important as is the cutlery sector in our country.
The city of Albacete is the urban nucleus with the most inhabitants number of all Castilla- La Mancha (surpass 170.000 inhabitants).
Thanks to it’s geographical localization, has allowed it to interact with the other Spanish cities and regions, being a communication knot both by the railway network and through a modern road network; this has contributed in the open disposal and warm character of it’s people.
Called by the arabs Al-Basit its located in La Mancha plain.
Albacete is a modern city, accessible, clean, dynamic, with wide green areas in which you can enjoy walking by trough its pedestrian streets, taste the rich and varied cuisine in its restaurants or enjoy a night of partying.
The cultural offer of Albacete is very varied, theatres, museums, exhibitions and sports.
Symbolic buildings as the Cathedral of Saint John the Baptist, of gothic conception with transition details to the baroque; the Old Convent of La Encarnacion, transformed in to the Cultural Center of La Asunción, the Lodge of el Rosario, the bullring which was used as a model to construct the Madrid bullring and the Cirque-Theatre in which realize both theatre plays and cirque spectacles.
There are the multiple museums that can be visited: Provincial Archeological museum, the Municipal Museum, the Childs Museum and the Municipal Museum of Cutlery. Special mention deserves: the Fairgrounds where Albacete celebrates the September Fair, declared of International Tourist Interest, www.feriadealbacete.es and the Passage Lodares, emblematic building of the capital, where commerce and housing are mixed.
Albacete is located as a starting point for very different routes: the Sierra de Alcaraz and Segura, the Júcar and Cabriel Valley, the Chinchilla, Almansa, Yeste castles, the plains covered with extensive vineyards or the visit to the Campos de Hellin.
